Piercing Aftercare

Hand Washing:

Hand washing is the most important step to reducing chance of infection. When washing hands, use warm water and liquid soap. Always dry your hands off with a clean towel or disposable paper towel.

Ear, Face, Body, Surface & Oral piercing aftercare:

  • Hands must be washed every time before touching the pierced area.
  • Soak the piercing for a few minutes by submerging the area of pierced skin in a clean jug or bowl of warm saltwater solution (1 and a half teaspoons of salt to a cup of water) or saline solution. Alternatively soak a clean cloth, gauze or kitchen roll in the solution and apply as a warm compress to the pierced area. For oral piercings you should after each gargle either alcohol-free mouthwash or a warm saltwater/saline solution after each meal.
  • This will soften any discharge and allow you to properly clean the entry and exit points of the piercing with a kitchen roll or gauze.
  • Once the discharge is removed or extremely softened, you’ll be able to gently move/twist the jewellery to allow the solution to effectively reach inside the wound.
  • Ensure that any balls are tightened to the bars by twisting the ball to the right.
  • Dry the piercing using only fresh disposable paper towel/kitchen roll.
  • Do this twice a day for the recommended time we gave you.

Advice specific for tongue piercings:

  • For the first few days take care when eating and avoid spicy foods.
  • Cold products such as ice or ice cream can help reduce swelling.
  • Refrain from oral sex of any description until the piercing is fully healed.

Micro dermal Implants aftercare:

  • Hands must be washed every time before touching the pierced area.
  • Use a clean cloth, gauze or kitchen roll to soak in warm saltwater/saline solution and apply as a warm compress to pierced area and begin to gently dab the cloth around the area to ensure under the disc is cleaned.
  • This will soften any discharge and allow you to clean the piercing points with kitchen roll or a gauze.
  • If the area around the implant becomes crusted, soak the piercing for a few minutes by submerging the area in a clean jug/bowl of warm saltwater/saline solution and loosen the discharge using kitchen roll.
  • Dry the piercing thoroughly using only disposable paper towel/kitchen roll.

Do Not: Use cotton wool to clean the piercing. Pick at any discharge. Move or twist jewellery whilst dry. Use sunbeds for the first 2 weeks. Swim for the first 48 hours. Wear tight clothing covering the piercing. Over clean micro dermal piercings. Change the cap on a micro dermal piercing until its fully healed. Do Not remove the piercing if there is an active infection at any time, see myself or a doctor.
